Labor Day gives most of Texas one last three-day weekend before fall starts asking for jackets. Holiday weekends fill early, so the best time to plan is before the calendar fills up. Here is how to plan next year’s Labor Day weekend at Overlook Park & Marina.
Plan around the holiday
Holiday weekends work a little differently, so it helps to know the rules up front.
- Three-night minimum on holiday weekends
- Cabins are $175 a night on holiday weekends
- Cancellations on holiday and event weekends need 30 days’ notice for any refund or transfer. See our park policies.
- Book early. Holiday weekends are among the busiest of the year.
Check-in is 3:00 PM and check-out is 11:00 AM. Confirm current rates and the exact holiday dates on the booking page or by calling (979) 289-2321.
Where to stay
- Cabins. Five cabins (A through E), built in 1969, sleeping up to six. Two queen beds, one bathroom, a kitchenette, and linens, dishes, towels, and a coffee maker included. See cabins and stays.
- RV sites. 30-amp $40, 50-amp $50, Full Hookup $65 a night. Only Full Hookup sites have sewer. There is a dump station on the property.
- Tent sites. $35 with electric and water, $30 for primitive.
Pets are welcome in all lodging for $10 per pet per night, two maximum.
Get on the water
The public boat ramp is $10 to launch, and the marina has the only on-water fuel station on Lake Somerville. Get to the ramp early on a holiday morning. Kayaks, canoes and paddle boards are $50 a day. See the marina page.
Fish the early hours
Early morning and the last hour before sunset are the usual windows for a bite. Check Texas Parks and Wildlife for license rules and current fishing reports from a named source.
Let the kids run
Families set up on the sandbar beach with umbrellas and coolers. There is a playground among the oaks, a covered pavilion with grills, and four-seat golf carts at $50 a day ($75 on holiday weekends). The park map shows where everything is.
Check for events
If something is planned for the weekend, you will find it on the events page. We only list what is confirmed.
Stay for the sunsets
The sun goes down over the lake, the fires get lit, and it gets quiet. Fires go in the fire rings and are never left unattended. Firewood is $6.50 a bundle at the marina store.
Getting here
Overlook is about 45 minutes from College Station and about 1.5 hours from Houston and Austin. Our address is 505 Marina Rd, Brenham, TX 77833. Start with Plan Your Visit, then book your stay.
We have been on this lake since 1970: 138 acres, two miles of lake frontage, three calm coves, and over 100 RV sites, cabins, boat rentals, and all the other fun stuff we have going on.
One more long weekend. One lake worth the drive. Lake life. Lasting memories.
