If you are looking for an RV park on a Texas lake where a week can become a month, Lake Somerville is worth a look. Overlook Park & Marina is built for weekend arrivals, and it also works as a home base for longer stays. Here is what to know before you plan one.
Who tends to stay longer
People plan long RV stays for different reasons: remote workers who want a lakeside spot, travelers working their way through Texas, and anyone who needs a quiet, steady address for a few weeks. What they share is wanting a level site, a working hookup, and a place that is not rushing them out the door.
Hookups
The hookup type matters more on a three-week stay than a three-night one.
- Full Hookup sites ($65 a night) have electric, water, and sewer. They are the only sites with sewer, and there are a small number of them, so ask about them first if you plan a long stay. Call to check availability.
- 30-amp sites ($40) and 50-amp sites ($50) have electric and water. There is a dump station on the property.
Know which type you are booking before you commit to a long stay at one.
Wi-Fi and cell service
Wi-Fi is available at the gatehouse, marina store, and cabins, so it is not at every site. Cell service across the park is great, which is what many remote workers rely on. If your work depends on a connection, call us to talk through your setup before you book.
Quiet midweek
Weekends are livelier. The ramp is busier and the marina fills in. Midweek is usually the calmer part of the week. Under our fall schedule, the park is open Sunday through Wednesday from 6am to 6pm and Thursday through Saturday from 6am to 10pm, with quiet hours from 10pm to 6am. If you work from your rig during the day, that calm is worth a lot.
Room for your rig
Our RV sites sit on mown grass with shade oaks across much of the property. We have gravel roads through the sites and room for travel trailers. If you travel with a larger rig, call (979) 289-2321 and tell us the length so we can match you with a site.
Still a lake, even on a workweek
Being here for weeks does not mean giving up the lake. Walk to the water at the end of a workday, fish from the shoreline, or launch a boat from the public ramp ($10 to launch). Kayaks, canoes and paddle boards are $50 a day, and the marina has the only on-water fuel station on Lake Somerville. Four-seat golf carts are $50 a day. See the marina page and the park map.
Ask about long-stay rates
We do not publish a flat long-stay rate. The nightly rates above are what we can confirm. For a couple of weeks or more, call (979) 289-2321 or email info@overlookparkandmarina.com and we will talk it through.
A few things that apply to every stay: check-in is 3:00 PM and check-out is 11:00 AM, pets are welcome for $10 per pet per night (two maximum), and our park policies cover the details.
Plan your stay
Overlook has been on Lake Somerville since 1970: 138 acres, two miles of lake frontage, three calm coves, and over 100 RV sites, cabins, boat rentals, and all the other fun stuff we have going on. We are about 45 minutes from College Station, about 1.5 hours from Houston, and about 1.5 hours from Austin. Start with Plan Your Visit, or book your stay.
Whether it is two weeks or two seasons, this is a good place to sit still for a while. Lake life. Lasting memories.
