Brenham is known for its historic downtown, its ice cream, and a slower pace than the big cities nearby. If you are planning a trip there, a night or two on the lake is a good way to round it out. Overlook Park & Marina sits on Lake Somerville with a Brenham address: 505 Marina Rd, Brenham, TX 77833.

On the lake itself
You do not have to leave to find something to do. Fish from the bank or dock, rent a kayak, canoe or paddle board ($50 a day each), or take a golf cart ($50 a day) for a loop around the grounds. The marina has the only on-water fuel station on Lake Somerville and a public ramp for $10. Our fishing guide covers where to start.
Evenings are quiet. Build a fire in a fire ring (attended, always), and watch the sunset from the shoreline.
Getting here
We are about 45 minutes from College Station and about 1.5 hours from Houston and Austin. A word of caution on directions: the Army Corps of Engineers runs a separate public park next door, also named Overlook Park, and some maps send people there by mistake. Use 505 Marina Rd, Brenham, TX 77833.
Our fall hours are Sunday through Wednesday 6am to 6pm and Thursday through Saturday 6am to 10pm. If you will arrive after hours, call (979) 289-2321 and we will set you up.
Why guests stay with us
We have been a lake park since 1970. Brothers Harley and Tyler Schild took over in 2026, honoring that legacy. Read our story to learn more.
